Public Notice - Business Continuity Services During The Coronavirus (Covid-19) Extreme Social Distancing Period

In light of the State of Public Emergency declared by His Excellency Dr. Mokgweetsi E.K. Masisi on 31st March 2020, the Authority informs all Non-Bank Financial Institutions and the public that its office will be observing the Extreme Social Distancing period which commences at midnight today.

From a Business Continuity perspective, the Authority will avail limited services as outlined below, to regulated entities and the public subject to the initial period of extreme social distancing of twenty-eight (28) days or until further notice.

  1. Renewal of Licences: Entities whose licenses expire during the period of extreme social distancing, will be granted an extension of thirty (30) days from the date of expiry of the license. All documents required for licence renewals are to be submitted electronically during this period. 
  1. Application for New Licenses: All applications for new licenses may be submitted electronically. 
  1. Submission of Statutory Returns:  All Returns falling due during the month of April will be granted a thirty (30) days extension from the date of expiry.  
  1. Onsite Inspections/Compliance Onsite Visits: These have been postponed until further notice.
  1. Complaints Management: All new complaints including the supporting documents may be submitted electronically or through the Authority’s postal address being Private Bag 00314, Gaborone, Botswana.
  1. Enquiries: All enquiries to be submitted electronically through info@nbfira.org.bw
  1. Technical (IT) Support: Entities who encounter technical challenges in accessing or using the RBSS are requested to email helpdesk@nbfira.org.bw.
