NBFIRA Open Day - Palapye 19th - 20th September 2014

The NBFIRA open day was a culmination of exposing the Palapye community to the different functions of the non-bank financial institutions and  consumer education initiatives on financial literacy.

Consumer education has a dual role to play being to educate those using financial services to make sensible decisions, and to promote the use of financial services to those who currently don’t. The days featured various financial literacy education programs delivered through face to face discussions, edutainment, the press, skits and workshops whose specific objectives were:

- To create awareness and educate the public (consumers) on access to safe and affordable formal financial services;

- To make consumers understand their rights and responsibilities as users of formal financial services; and

- To change consumer’s attitudes and translate financial literacy knowledge into behavior.
