NBFIRA Celebrates ISO 9001:2015 QMS Certification – A Milestone in Regulatory Excellence

The Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority (NBFIRA) today celebrated a major institutional achievement; the official certification of the BOS ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) by the Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS). This milestone event, hosted at BOBS Headquarters, marks a major stride in NBFIRA’s pursuit of institutional excellence, transparency, and operational efficiency.

In his opening remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of NBFIRA, Mr. Oduetse Motshidisi emphasised that the certification is not just a symbol of achievement, but a promise to stakeholders to uphold international standards of quality, consistency, and continuous improvement. He expressed that the certification reflects a two-year journey of rigorous internal reviews, process enhancements, and capacity-building under the “Ntlafatso” project.

The event was graced by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Tshokologo Kganetso, who commended NBFIRA’s leadership and staff for their professionalism, dedication to regulatory integrity, and efforts to align the Authority’s operations with international best practices.

The Chairperson of the NBFIRA Board, Mr. Thabo E. Gaadingwe, in giving vote of thanks, acknowledged the Ministry of Finance for its unwavering support and further extended deep appreciation to BOBS for their technical guidance throughout the certification process. He also applauded the NBFIRA leadership, Quality Champions and staff for their professionalism, dedication and teamwork. “This certification is not just a badge,” he noted, “it is a strategic tool that enhances regulatory efficiency, builds stakeholder trust, and reinforces our commitment to excellence in service delivery.”

This certification positions NBFIRA among leading regulatory bodies on the continent and reaffirms its role in strengthening Botswana’s financial sector.
