NBFIRA Participates at the Botswana Pensions Annual Conference

The Authority in pursuit of strengthening collaboration with key stakeholders participated at the Botswana Pension Society Annual Conference which was held under the theme “Bridging the Pension Gap: Solutions for Ensuring Adequate Retirement Savings for All’. The conference, which was held on the 8 March 2024, was attended by Pension industry players in Botswana as well as Namibia.

The purpose of the conference, as has been the case since its inception, was to foster insightful discussions, showcase groundbreaking research, as well as facilitate the exchange of ideas among industry players in the field of Pensions.

During the conference several key speakers are afforded the platform though a comprehensive program that include keynote presentation’s, panel discussions as well as interactive workshop.

Among the key speakers on the day was Dr Thuto Mahlanza, Director of Retirements Funds of NBFIRA, who captivated the audience with his thought-provoking presentation on the role of Pension Funds and their importance to the future of Pensioners.

 Dr Mahlanza informed the conference said that the Pension industry need to do a lot in terms of educating Pensioners on ideas and programs that can help secure savings through robust policies and innovative strategies. He emphasised that all players in the Pensions industry needs to work together to ensure that they produce polies that promote savings as well to collaborate to ensure that the right education is provided to the pensioners to enable them to make the right decisions with their hard-earned pension.
