INSURANCE INSTITUTE OF BOTSWANA LAUNCHED

The Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority took part in the historical launch of the Insurance Institute of Botswana held on the 3rd June, 2016 at Phakalane. The Authority made presentations on the revised Insurance Industry Act and the Retirement fund Act.

The Insurance Institute of Botswana is chaired by Mr Dziki Nganunu. The Insurance Institute of Botswana aims to ensure training and development of the insurance sector. Training and development for the sector  has experienced lack of qualified personnel because the sector relied on institutions in neighboring countries and those in international jurisdictions where registration was limited to a few. “Through establishment of IIB the Authority is hopeful that the institute will encourage the market to increase the uptake of higher insurance qualifications with the aim to produce insurance experts of integrity,” said NBFIRA Acting Chief Executive Officer Michael Tlhagwane.

Tlhagwane further applauded the Insurance Institute of Botswana for setting up such a much needed institute which will enable our locals to compete in the international market.
